Drop Ship Your Way To Wealth

Your customer sees a marvelous array of products on your website. After thoughtful consideration, she purchases the product she wants. Amazingly, you have never actually seen the product. That is because your supplier shipped the order directly to her.

1. Problems With Stocking Inventory

After deciding what products you will sell, you are immediately faced with many challenges.

First: "To stock my products, will I need to rent store or warehouse space? I was hoping to sell by Internet, mail order, or export, but I don`t have much storage space for inventory at home."

Second: "Will the supplier even deal with me if I don`t have a retail location? I was counting on keeping my overhead down by operating from home."

Third: "I know that many manufacturers and distributors have a minimum order, sometimes in the thousands of dollars. I don`t have that kind of money!"

Fourth: "Even if I did have the money, why should I tie it up in inventory? How do I know if the product will even sell?"

Fifth: "I guess I will have to add extra insurance coverage for my inventory. Maybe I better upgrade my security system while I`m at it."

Sixth: "The shipping charges are going to kill me. First, I have to pay to get the goods here (freight-in). Then, I have to pay to ship the goods out to my customers (freight-out)."

Seventh: "If I expand and hire employees, how will I control the inventory? How will I know if my employees are stealing from me?"

Eighth: "How much time and money am I going to spend packaging and fulfilling orders?"

These problems can be reduced or eliminated by drop shipping.

2. Drop Shipping to the Rescue

Drop shipping is a method of selling products without stocking inventory yourself. You don`t need to stock inventory, because you only order an item when a customer requests it.

With drop shipping, when you make a sale you contact the manufacturer or authorized distributor and make arrangements to pay for the order at your wholesale cost. Your distributor then ships the product to the customer with your invoice and shipping label.

For example, let`s assume that you have just sold a product to a customer for $100.00 plus shipping charges of $15.00. Having received the customer`s payment, you now need to fax or otherwise send your order to your drop ship supplier. You will need to pay your supplier, by credit card or other means, your cost of $50.00 plus $15.00 shipping. This leaves you a $50.00 gross profit. Your supplier will now ship the product to your customer.

With this arrangement of not having to stock inventory yourself, there are many advantages.

You eliminate the high costs of holding inventory. There is no need for you to rent expensive storage space, finance high minimum orders, get stuck with goods that don`t sell, or pay other expenses associated with maintaining inventory.

Indirectly, you do pay inventory costs. Your drop ship supplier must maintain his inventory and pay all associated costs, including freight-in, storage space, insurance, accounting, shrinkage, and so on. To make a profit, he must pass these costs on to you.

The real advantage to this drop shipping arrangement lies in keeping your costs variable. Instead of being stuck with these expenses up front, whether you sell or not, you pay only when you make a sale.

3. Profit From Drop Shipping

Many legitimate drop ship suppliers may not require you to have a retail location, but they will want to see evidence that you are in business. They may require you to produce a resale license or retail sales tax permit.

To be sure, there are pitfalls to watch out for in drop shipping. For example, some suppliers claim to sell at wholesale prices but are actually selling closer to retail. Also, margins are very slim in some competitive areas, such as electronics. However, with proper research and information, you should be able to avoid these problems.

Whether from your home, retail store, directly from your website or through an online auction, you can arrange to sell an item before you purchase it. That way you have nothing invested in inventory and won`t get stuck with stock that won`t sell.

Drop shipper’s fee – You should never be asked to pay a drop shipper for the shipping service provided. This is a scam many unethical drop shippers use to make money off new business owners.

Fake email support – You will be surprised to find how many drop shippers provide fake email addresses to businesses that depend on their services so that they cannot be contacted with problems or queries.

If you’ve never heard of drop shipping, then prepare to be impressed – it sounds like every eBay seller’s dream. With drop shipping, you don’t have to keep any stock at all. You simply list auctions for what your drop shipper sells, without actually seeing it yourself.

Each time something sells, you let them know, and they deliver it for you – directly to the customer. They’ll charge you a near-wholesale price for the item they delivered, you charge the customer whatever price you agreed, and then you pocket the difference as profit.

The Magic.

Just think of the sheer amount of trouble this takes out of eBay selling. You don’t have to find space in your house to keep your stock in, or money to buy it with. You don’t have to take any risk by buying things that might not sell. You don’t have to deal with suppliers. You don’t even have to pack or post the auctions yourself. Wow! Can you imagine how good this would be if you could pull it off?

But, as with all things in life, if it sounds too good to be true…

The Myths.

Drop-shippers don’t do deals with just anyone – any drop shipper who says they’ll take orders from unregistered businesses is likely to be a scammer. They might not send out anything at all to your customers, or you might send out very poor quality merchandise that they will then return to you for a refund.

Also, beware of companies that claim they will put you in contact with drop shippers for a fee – they are inevitably rip-offs. At the end of the day, the best way to find drop shipping companies is to contact them in the ‘real world’, not by typing ‘drop shipping’ into a search engine.

Doing it for Real.

If you want to make a profit with drop-shippers, be prepared for it to be quite a small one: you’re not going to make sales on eBay at a big mark-up from drop shipping prices. You will also have to accept that you can’t inspect stock before it gets sent out, and some of your descriptions might not be as good as they could be.

You should also be prepared for a few frustrating experiences with your drop shipper, as they might not share the same customer service values as you. The first time you’ll realise that they never sent something to one of your buyers is when you hear about it from the buyer a week later.

If you can accept all these things, though, and find a reputable drop shipper, then there’s money to be made. Good luck!

Beware Of Ebay

WARNING! Before you buy or sell on Ebay there are some things you should know. Their rating and feedback system can get you in a lot of trouble. There are vicious vindictive merchants out there who will try to do you in if you cross them. Ebay doesn’t seem to care. Is Ebay just a big mindless computer? Look out – you can get hurt!

Enlarge Image On April 11 of this year I was shopping for bed linens on the internet. I found some sheets on Ebay that seemed to be wonderful items at reasonable prices. One of them I liked was described as "Court of Versailles Queen Fitted Sage Sheet". My bedroom is done in sage colors. Nothing could have seemed more perfect. The picture of the sheet was quite effective – it was just what I wanted. I couldn’t find out what the thread count was from the seller, as they weren’t quite sure, but I made a bid on the item anyway.

The seller was Ty Trading Company and my winning bid was a measly $23.21. The shipping charge was a whopping $13.46. Well, a total of $36.67 didn’t seem like too much to pay. I would have spent at least $10.00 on gas going to Macy’s or Bed Bath & Beyond. .

In case you don’t know how Ebay works, you have the option to either bid on an item or "Buy it Now", depending on how it’s listed. This was a bid only item. I was so excited to have actually been the highest bidder in an Ebay auction. I paid for the sheet with my PayPal account.

Something strange happened. A few hours later I received an email from Ty Trading Company. It said that they could not honor my bid because I didn’t have a PayPal account. Well, of course I had a PayPal account – I had just used it to pay them for the sheet.

I called Ty Trading Company and was told that they were sorry, but I was out of luck. They blamed it on PayPal. I surmised that perhaps they had gotten a higher bid at the last moment and had disregarded mine…..of course I’ll never know what really happened. They refunded my PayPal account and I forgot all about it.

Meanwhile, later on in the month I wrote an ebook about how to cure acid reflux by natural means. I had been a victim of this condition for years. I had been taking prescription drugs, namely Nexium, and after a while the drugs didn’t work anymore. I desperately looked for an alternative cure. After much research and experimentation, I did heal myself of this wretched condition and decided to share it with others like myself.

At the urging of a friend, I listed my eBook on Ebay. I was amazed – the eBook started selling at a brisk pace. I was getting great feed back from my buyers. I was making a little money and helping others at the same time. Everything was going along fine, until I finally gave in to Ebays constant nagging to rate all the buyers and sellers that I had dealt with. I had been putting this off, but it was a rainy Friday morning and I had some free time. I thought I would finally get this much requested chore out of the way.

This is how it works. When you buy or sell an item, you are asked to rate the buyer or seller. You have three choices; negative, neutral or positive. You are then asked to type in some feedback remarks.

I gave positive rave reviews to everyone, with the exception of Ty Trading Company. After all, what they had done to me was not very nice. I couldn’t be honest and give them rave reviews, could I? I simply remarked that they had not honored my winning bid and had charged me anyway.

To my surprise, later in the day I received an email from Ebay notifying me that I had been accused of non payment of an item. Guess who made that accusation? Of course, you guessed right – it was Ty Trading Company. They were getting even with me.

Ebay should have known that a long time savvy trader like this company would not have waited more than a month to collect on an item that had shipped. In fact, without payment, the item wouldn’t have been shipped anyway. I wonder if Ebay is completely operated by mindless computers…..are there any human beings there at all?

The Ebay message said that I had seven days in which to respond to and dispute the accusation. Boy, those seven days went by in the flash of an eye. Less than an hour later Ebay had awarded me a "Strike". A strike is the worst thing that can happen to anyone using Ebay. It can ruin your rating in a heartbeat. Mine went down from 100% to 91% instantly. It’s like having your hand slapped by a mean old school teacher who mistakenly thinks you are the one who threw that paper airplane in class. Except this is a bit more serious, it can effect your livelihood.

Ebay certainly did not review the responses I had made to these charges. I had irrevocable proof of the payment and the refund concerning item # 4453528876, listed by Ty Trading Company. I had emailed that proof to Ebay when I first responded to the false accusation. I was right in front of my computer when that notification came through. I was writing a news release about saving the American Bald Eagle on the Upper Delaware River from the NYRI power lines. I had a deadline and had not left my keyboard all day.

It would seem that the Ebay system is loaded in favor of their big sellers. Had they checked the item number in question before setting me down, they would have seen the payment and refund of the item and there would have been no case against me. Maybe computers can’t grasp that kind of logic?

You see, each buyer and seller on Ebay has a rating at the top of their listing to sell, or next to their name when they buy. It is their policy that negative ratings are never removed from anyone’s profile. I suppose that this is done to warn potential buyers and sellers of the bad guys, however it apparently does not allow for mistakes or erroneous remarks. It certainly does not allow for lies, due to vicious vindictive behavior. I don’t think that this is a very good system.

I will certainly think twice about ever buying anything on Ebay again, unless it is a digital item which can be downloaded immediately after payment. Of course I am just saying this because I still have my ebook for sale on Ebay. I don’t want to discourage anyone from buying it. But who knows, if the computers read this article they may just kick me out. Maybe they have a rule forbidding account holders from writing critical articles about them.

When you have a rating of less than 100%, some prospective buyers will shy away. The big company I offended obviously didn’t like a little guy like me bringing down their rating, even just a little – so they got even. Ebay allowed them to do so.

I suspect that my ebook sales will diminish considerably because of this. I have sent a letter of protest to Ebay’s dispute center in Utah, in an effort to have the strike removed. However, I doubt that a company which you can’t even get on the phone will do any thing to correct this error. It’s an unfair and injudicious system at best. It certainly does not engender good relations with the very people on which Ebay depends.

So watch yourself when buying or selling on the world’s largest auction machine. You could get stung and your hopes for success dashed by an insensitive computer driven website and a dishonest merchant.

Your Marketing Strategy – To Niche Or Not To Niche?

There is an interesting tussle of views between online mass marketing and online niche marketing. Internet marketing traditionally began with information-giving and this has given rise to the perspective that the internet is appealing to the masses. And rightly it should. The extensive growth of e-commerce and affiliate marketing has however given rise to online niche marketing, and has become a very profitable topic of discussion at that too.

There is no right or wrong about which perspective one takes. It all boils down to the objective of the site owner and his or her trade, of which will determine what perspective he or she will take to catapult the site to the next level. For instance, a site owner representing a corporate entity would likely design the site with an information-centric perspective, whilst an avid online e-marketer will be ecommerce-centric.

I would consider that every business is in a niche of its own. The main difference being that it’s either a broad niche or a narrowly-defined niche.

While searching for business ideas, both traditional or internet marketing alike, we start off exploring a viable board industry, narrowing down to a digestible segment and finally specializing in providing a focused line of product offering.

So essentially, the extent of the niche depends on the breadth & depth of your product range, your chosen target market(s), and the market needs to be fulfilled.

For example, you could consider an Aston Martin dealership selling a couple of Aston Martin DBS per year. Or you could also consider a Toyota dealership selling a couple thousands of Toyota Corrollas per year. The former is obviously a Super Niche while the latter is a broad one.

Similarly, in internet marketing, there is also need to niche both your product offerings and target segment. The reason being that as an internet marketer, you only have that much time and energy to ensure certain level of success.

Your internet SWOT and viability analysis are much more skilled and technology-driven. You use keyword search tools, and supply search tools to measure the product’s potential viability. You use traffic-driving tools to route internet traffic to your site optimizing backlinks from social networking & bookmarking, article marketing, link-exchanges etc.

The smaller the niche, the greater the amount of effort to grow your product offerings separately, differentiate them, maintain your clientele base. Traditional brick and mortar businesses need to build-in the niche segments expansion requirements, be it from marketing or budgeting perspectives.

Internet marketers are able to achieve greater operational efficiency, sometimes at faster pace, by leveraging upon ready or customized technology-driven tools to manage the ever-growing number of niche offerings within a portfolio.

Week six – modules 8 and 9

Here we come to the final week of the Niche Blueprint six week e-commerce course. By now, we will have our own profitable, fully functioning and operational Niche Blueprint store. We have come a long way from a standing start to a profitable store in only five weeks.

So what now?

Well, now we know how, we could always build another one and then another one until we reached our income goal or we collapsed from too much work. I mean, I thought the goal of this store was to earn money in our pyjamas.

Module 8 – Outsourcing Secrets.

Stage door right enter, module eight, probably my favourite module. Of course, this module is not obligatory. You can, if you wish, just carry on with one, two or three stores whatever you are happy with.

But some of us, more greedy and lazy, or some would say smart, module eight is the cherry on the pie. The aim of this module is that once you have a profitable store is to show you how to outsource the day-to-day operations of that store. So that you can literally have an autopilot income and make money while you sit around in your pyjamas.

But of course, you wouldn’t sit around in your pyjamas. No, you would build another store, and then outsource that, then do it again and again until you had a million-dollar a year business. That’s how fortunes are made.

So, what’s new in Niche Blueprint 2.0?

Week six – modules 8 and 9

Here we come to the final week of the Niche Blueprint six week e-commerce course. By now, we will have our own profitable, fully functioning and operational Niche Blueprint store. We have come a long way from a standing start to a profitable store in only five weeks.

So what now?

Well, now we know how, we could always build another one and then another one until we reached our income goal or we collapsed from too much work. I mean, I thought the goal of this store was to earn money in our pyjamas.

Module 8 – Outsourcing Secrets.

Stage door right enter, module eight, probably my favourite module. Of course, this module is not obligatory. You can, if you wish, just carry on with one, two or three stores whatever you are happy with.

But some of us, more greedy and lazy, or some would say smart, module eight is the cherry on the pie. The aim of this module is that once you have a profitable store is to show you how to outsource the day-to-day operations of that store. So that you can literally have an autopilot income and make money while you sit around in your pyjamas.

But of course, you wouldn’t sit around in your pyjamas. No, you would build another store, and then outsource that, then do it again and again until you had a million-dollar a year business. That’s how fortunes are made.

Week 5 – Module 6 (part 2)

Week five of the Niche Blueprint E-Commerce Training course includes module six (part 2) and module 7. Part one of model six, showed how to get targeted traffic to your e-commerce store for free. E-Commerce and the Worldwide Web has been growing exponentially for years.  Almost all the major  retailers and most of the smaller ones allow you to buy there products online these days.  Amazon, Ebay and other web companies make it very easy for you buy or offer products of your very own.

The Internets scope and accessibility provide a terrific opportunity for someone to set up an online home business, either selling there own products, or selling other peoples products as an affiliate.  In reality there are already thousands of home based entrepreneurs doing just that, I and my son are just one of those thousands and some are incredibly successful earning tens of thousands of Dollars, Pounds, Euros etc per month.

Week six – modules 8 and 9

Here we come to the final week of the Niche Blueprint six week e-commerce course. By now, we will have our own profitable, fully functioning and operational Niche Blueprint store. We have come a long way from a standing start to a profitable store in only five weeks.

So what now?

Module 8 – Outsourcing Secrets.

Stage door right enter, module eight, probably my favourite module. Of course, this module is not obligatory. You can, if you wish, just carry on with one, two or three stores whatever you are happy with.

But some of us, more greedy and lazy, or some would say smart, module eight is the cherry on the pie. The aim of this module is that once you have a profitable store is to show you how to outsource the day-to-day operations of that store. So that you can literally have an autopilot income and make money while you sit around in your pyjamas.

But of course, you wouldn’t sit around in your pyjamas. No, you would build another store, and then outsource that, then do it again and again until you had a million-dollar a year business. That’s how fortunes are made.

Week 5 – Module 6 (part 2)

Week five of the Niche Blueprint E-Commerce Training course includes module six (part 2) and module 7. Part one of model six, showed how to get targeted traffic to your e-commerce store for free. E-Commerce is it a viable business for us ordinary guys and gals?

E-Commerce and the Worldwide Web has been growing exponentially for years.  Almost all the major  retailers and most of the smaller ones allow you to buy there products online these days.  Amazon, Ebay and other web companies make it very easy for you buy or offer products of your very own.

The Internets scope and accessibility provide a terrific opportunity for someone to set up an online home business, either selling there own products, or selling other peoples products as an affiliate.  In reality there are already thousands of home based entrepreneurs doing just that, I and my son are just one of those thousands and some are incredibly successful earning tens of thousands of Dollars, Pounds, Euros etc per month.

However, it is not always particularly easy for a beginner to set up there own niche e-commerce site.   The novice home based entrepreneur needs to master and understand a number of things to be able to achieve success and to name just a few of them:

- A micro-niche that doesn’t have an overwhelming amount of competition

E-Commerce is it a viable business for us ordinary guys and gals?

E-Commerce and the Worldwide Web has been growing exponentially for years.  Almost all the major  retailers and most of the smaller ones allow you to buy there products online these days.  Amazon, Ebay and other web companies make it very easy for you buy or offer products of your very own.

The Internets scope and accessibility provide a terrific opportunity for someone to set up an online home business, either selling there own products, or selling other peoples products as an affiliate.  In reality there are already thousands of home based entrepreneurs doing just that, I and my son are just one of those thousands and some are incredibly successful earning tens of thousands of Dollars, Pounds, Euros etc per month.

However, it is not always particularly easy for a beginner to set up there own niche e-commerce site.   The novice home based entrepreneur needs to master and understand a number of things to be able to achieve success and to name just a few of them:
